I left my baby

Last week I left my baby...

Hold your judgmental thoughts! Me and my man decided to leave our baby girl with her aunt for 3.5 h.

And why, do you ask?

Because STAR WARS, that's why!!! And it was worth it!

I mean, I felt a mix of things. On one side, the movie was great. It was beyond my expectations.

But even with
  • the right amount of action,
  • a good dose of drama,
  • great photography
  • respectful acting,
  • enough entertainment,
  • not diverging from original story,
  • etc.,
  • etc.,
  • etc.

I still felt that those 3 h and 30 min were the longest of my life. It was the first time I left my baby with someone else. It felt like something was physically missing from me. I am not kidding! After all, she has been a part of me for almost a year now and that sure leaves an impact.

I also felt a little guilty because I did not leave my baby to go exercise, to go to a doctor's appointment, or to do something extremely important for me or for her. No, I left her to go and have something for my own pleasure. Selfish? Yes, maybe, but I deserve it!

I do not want to stop doing things I love just because I am a mom now. Being a mom is not a condition. It's not a burden. It does not mean we have to stop living. Being a mom is extending your love and your heart to unimaginary proportions!

We carried our babies inside us and it sure felt as long as the wait for the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens"; we gathered the strength to push them out of us with excruciating pain (or not so much for the lucky ones); we took a long healing time; we feed them and nurse them 24/7; and we are eternally devoted to them. She is my everything and, as Michael's nephew calls her, she is lille Fia. She is in fact a little version of myself and Michael. So yes, we deserve a few hours for pure and simple self-time.

So, please, mommies of the world, go and have some fun! And yes, daddies, you deserve it as much!

(P.S.: Sure, non parents of the world will be like "3 h and 30 min? That's nothing!" Well, to you I say: "May the force be with you for you have no clue what you are saying.")

Declaration of independence

I hereby officially declare I have drowned in work.

And in cinema.

And in photography.

And in literature.

And in food.

And in science.

And in music.

And in concerts.

And in cooking from scratch.

And in … what was I saying?

And a "barbecue" a long time ago. What a waste of materials.

North Atlantic

It is unique. In its greatness I have swam, wander, and rely.
I am proud of being part of it.

North Atlantic, a vast source of life.
What are you doing to protect your ocean? Our ocean?

Speaking of which, check this out.

On my way to heaven

Since I have met Mrs. Sarah Britton that my life changed. I guess you are all sick of "listening" to this, but well, the truth is I am a better person since I acknowledge how much food affects me.

I have posted some pictures of this bars, but have never made a post about them.

This is just one more delicious recipe created by Sarah. These are fully-packed and define a perfect snack. Yes, I love snacks.

I try not to repeat my snack from the previous week, so I make sure I try as many as possible. I hate routines! I am in constant need of inspiration, and routines make me want to run away -  and that’s not good.

Get this amazing recipe on My New Roots (Sarah's blog)!

And I got it!

Life-centered roots

I will never forget my roots, but Copenhagen is definitely a great place to live.

I love cycling!
It gives me so much pleasure, and I am all about pleasure seeking.

Engaging a new perspective

This weekend was reserved to:
1. Try a new transport, since my current one is not at its best;
2. To barbecue, and having a homemade pie of fresh blueberries;
3. Remembering how yoga makes me feel so much better;
4. Work for a little while;
5. Having fun in the kitchen with him.

And these are the reasons why my life is so full and I have a hard time to rest. I feel it is such a waste of my time.

2.8.12

(pin)hole mode

My D got company. Now it's my double D.

He got me a pretty new D. A multi-pinhole one. I have never thought about getting one myself, but he knows me. He knows I get inspired by this type of triggers. I could spent hours on it.

He even allows me to use his mobile as a light meter.

Oh yeah, this was just a random night at Rantzausgade 28.

Comfort zone

Feed me some scones and I will be your friend forever.

I love lazy Sundays with plenty of movies and jams to top my scones. Either that or some home-baked pie/galette. There are just a few things better than this: a highly sportive Sunday morning/afternoon.

I tend to start my Sundays with a walk in the neighbourhood. I live in a somewhat quiet, fancy area, with loads of nice cafés and gourmet food. I seat for a while in some place, and then go to buy my groceries in a local store, with plenty of organic, fresh food. Then I go back home, prepare some lunch, watch a movie or two, and go jogging. I feel so relieved after this, that, after my dinner, I watch another movie together with chamomile infusion (I may even add some freshly grinded ginger, fresh lemon juice, and raw honey) and I am good to go. Monday morning I feel that I have completely replenished all my energies, and the work goes smoothly.

Just like a good start should be.

Speaking of which, today also means one month of a new start for my little sister. Congratulations, dear! You deserve it =)

17.7.12

Animal behaviour

It resumes to 3 easy goals:

1. Pleasure seeking (sex, food, ART)
2. Pain avoiding
3. Energy conserving

What’s yours today?

Whether they are work or personal, my goals are always about having pleasure.

And the ode continues

Because the summer is here, here comes more sun.

SUNflower seeds are amongst my favourites.

Anywhere.

Next to everything.

Welcome "home"

Happy to come back to a high quality food city.

Unlike Portugal, it is easy to find good food. Denmark is able to provide access to whole food sources, which enrich my days and make me happier.

A goodbye from Vibo Valencia.

Off I go

See you in some days, folks!

Tomorrow is the big HUGE day and then I am on my break. Our brake!
