Declaration of independence

I hereby officially declare I have drowned in work.

And in cinema.

And in photography.

And in literature.

And in food.

And in science.

And in music.

And in concerts.

And in cooking from scratch.

And in … what was I saying?

And a "barbecue" a long time ago. What a waste of materials.

Overnight

I hold them tight, so they don’t fall.

It’s too windy out there.

This is a version #2 of this one.

On my way to heaven

Since I have met Mrs. Sarah Britton that my life changed. I guess you are all sick of "listening" to this, but well, the truth is I am a better person since I acknowledge how much food affects me.

I have posted some pictures of this bars, but have never made a post about them.

This is just one more delicious recipe created by Sarah. These are fully-packed and define a perfect snack. Yes, I love snacks.

I try not to repeat my snack from the previous week, so I make sure I try as many as possible. I hate routines! I am in constant need of inspiration, and routines make me want to run away -  and that’s not good.

Get this amazing recipe on My New Roots (Sarah's blog)!

And I got it!

The bigger, the better

Double sized snacks have a great advantage. Depending on your craving, you may opt for the perfect-sized snack. I like keep my options open.

Regarding the size issue, there is a theory that claims that “the bigger, the better”. I may have mentioned this theory on a previous post (have I?), but here it goes again for those who have an incredible memory, such as mine is.

If you are a prey, you should consider investing in growing bigger, rather than in achieving a longer life. Moreover, you should consider growing as fast as possible, so you get out of the “predatory window”. This window is basically the size-spectrum that a predator can handle, i.e. there is a minimum size above which a predator (depending on the type of predator we are dealing with, if it is a filter-feeding predator, then pretty much everything enters, then it just expels what isn’t important) starts considering. At this same point in time and space, the cost of preying is surpassed by the profit – both nutritionally and energetically. There is also a maximum size over which the predator is no longer able to ingest the prey due to the size of its own mouth. So you better grow faster to surpass the size of your predator’s mouth, right?

And today is the day when a LOT of things happen.

Engaging a new perspective

This weekend was reserved to:
1. Try a new transport, since my current one is not at its best;
2. To barbecue, and having a homemade pie of fresh blueberries;
3. Remembering how yoga makes me feel so much better;
4. Work for a little while;
5. Having fun in the kitchen with him.

And these are the reasons why my life is so full and I have a hard time to rest. I feel it is such a waste of my time.

A grain, a green, and a bean + one more

This is no rocket science, but it Is quite obvious – one of those things you won’t miss, unless you are a single-life goal person. What I mean is that this is pretty straight-forward.

A grain, a green and a bean. Read more about this hereA grain, a green and a beanas opposed to “the not so good, the possibly equally bad, and the extremely ugly” concept.

A grain, a green, and a bean – have you had your share of these today? I would add a seed. I eat so many seeds per day, you wouldn’t believe.

A grain, a green, and a bean: that’s all you need for a perfect, and nutritionally complete meal. Even if you don’t fancy vegetarianism, you may base your food plans on these components (a grain, a green, a bean, and a seed), and you are ready to go. Come on, if the athletes can do it, why can’t you?

Blackberries, “vou dizer ao teu pai que já nAMORAS!”

I managed to pass last week’s food in season. If I recall it correctly, my guess is that it was broad beans, which are pretty awesome as well. Unfortunately – or just because my brainstorm on recipes did not move towards them – I haven’t bought any broad beans for this entire year. Maybe it is about time to change that. I am sure I am still on time to get pretty good ones.

In any case, this week is dedicated to one of my very favourite fruits – I LOVE BERRIES!!! Specially in they are dark: blueberries, black currants, blackberries, you name them and I eat them! Oh yeah, I love that dark, rough, bitter, overwhelming flavour…oh la la!

Funny enough, I bought the best blackberries ever on the day Eat the Seasons announced this week’s food. It was just by chance, believe. I saw them laying on the stand – with an extremely expensive price in the tag, but who cares? (that’s another issue I may possibly discuss in a near future) – and I just couldn’t resist. After a run, what better could I have asked for? I ate some and guess what, I froze the rest. I am that kind of person that always leaves the best to the end. By freezing berries in season (or any other fruit, for that matter), I can enjoy the best of them later in the year. Oh dear freezer, I guess you’ll get pretty full if I keep seeing these beauties around.

Epah, diz à vontade, porque eu AMO amoras!”

Crazy features

Outliers, as in any model fitting technique, may turn your life into a living hell. What can you do to avoid them? Nothing. You just need to learn how to deal with them, and that’s it.

On the other hand, attending police auctions may be fruitful. Even if you aren’t lucky enough to find a good fit, you will feel relieved that you are promoting recycling. Yes, because that is what it is: objects being reused.

And the winner is (was)... Who knows? Maybe I will be posting some shots of my new beauty soon, when I get it.

Introducing raw food

Even I was a little bit skeptical, but gosh, it was AMAZING!

So rich, so colourful, so complete!

Seriously, try it if you can. I was so full afterwards. It is so intense – both the food and the experience. I totally recommend it. I am looking for raw food restaurants everywhere now, and I am glad that CPH welcomes them extremely well.
